Five Reasons to Visit the Euromast in Rotterdam

Five Reasons to Visit the Euromast in Rotterdam

April 4, 2012 2 Comments 3331 views

It may not be located in the centre of the city but the Euromast in Rotterdam is well worth a visit. Here are five reasons why:

  • A Piece of History – The Euromast was specially built for the 1960 Floriade event. So when you step inside, you step into a piece of history.
  • The Views – If you are looking for an elevated view of the modern city of Rotterdam, then the Euromast is for you. Not only can you view the city and surrounding towns but because the platform is circular, you aren’t restricted to just one or two angles.
  • Popping Ears – If you have been living in the Netherlands for awhile then you will notice the distinct lack of hills. The Euromast is the perfect location for that ear-popping experience you have no doubt been missing.
  • The Euroscoop – This rotating elevator will take you to the top of the Euromast, 185 metres up in the air. As you rotate taking in the views, you will learn about the city of Rotterdam.
  • The Chinese Supermarket – Okay, this isn’t quite a point about the Euromast itself but for me they always go hand in hand. Across the street from the Euromast is a floating hotel and Chinese restaurant. Inside there is also a nice oriental supermarket.

Have you visited the Euromast? What was your favourite part of the experience?

It sounds strange but I went there with some friends as part of my stag night/day (we were sober). I'm not easily scared of heights but it was a little heigh. Still enjoyed it very much.
