Dutch Delights: Vlammensaus

What:

Vlammensaus – a hot and spicy chili sauce made with around 20% ground red chili peppers.

Why:

Vlammensaus is often served with finger foods (e.g. meatballs, spring rolls, etc) that are dipped into the sauce to offer extra flavour.

Where:

Vlammensaus is often found at events where snack food is served, at snack bars and can also be found at food stores.

When:

Whenever you would like – it is another year round Dutch Delight.

Varieties:

Chili sauce is chili sauce but you can find several different brands. TopKing is my favourite.

How Much [Should I Eat]:

Vlammensaus is good! Like really good, so eat loads!

Pas Op! (Watch Out!):

Vlammensaus, like Vlammetjes, can be quite spicy so proceed with caution if you don’t tolerate spicy foods well.
