What: Knoflooksaus – ‘Knoflook’ means garlic and ‘saus’ means sauce, so you might have guessed it – this is a creamy sauce in the same consistency as ketchup but that is flavoured with garlic and herbs.
Why: The Dutch realised that garlic and meat taste pretty good together so decided to make it even easier to combine by creating a sauce that focuses on the flavour of garlic. However, there is some debate about if they actually thought of it first. The Dutch appear to love knoflooksaus so much that they are happy to smear it on any food items that they find lacking in flavour – potato, Turkish pizza, meat…
Where: Knoflooksaus is found in the grocery store in the sauce section. You will usually also get some when you order a doner kebab or similar.
When: Knoflooksaus is available all year round, so you shouldn’t have too much problem finding it. However, saying that, it does appear to be in decline of popularity and finding the larger bottles is more difficult.
Varieties: There isn’t too much variety with knoflooksaus apart from brands and whether it comes in a glass or plastic bottle. Although, you can usually buy it in varying strengths.
How Much [Should I Eat]: Most people who try knoflooksaus for the first time, providing they like garlic, fall in love with the stuff. It is something that is often requested when I visit friends. However, if you eat it on a regular basis it starts to lose its fantastic-ness.
Pas Op! (Watch Out!): Garlic can cause relationship problems. If your other half is not a fan, you might want to skip the knoflooksaus.

Best garlic sauce is made fresh at home. No industrial made garlic sauce is even near home made. And I can know, it's my job.
You shall have to make some home-made garlic sauce for me so I can test your statement. ;)
It is very healthy too, garlic is cleaning your blood and veins, the only problem is the smell.
If you eat it, so has your partner ☺
When I was in Estonia they would eat a whole clove on its own as winter came in to help prevent colds. I did it but it was a bit intense!
