You would think that by the year 2012, a warning wouldn’t be needed any more. You know the warning I mean. The one that is given every year when the temperatures drop and everything becomes frozen.
Yes, yes…that warning…don’t stick your tongue on a frozen lamppost.
We have all heard it and I assume we have all headed its advice. Yet there is always going to be one person, somewhere, who just can’t resist the temptation especially if the temptation involves a bet. And that is precisely how one 16-year old girl in Nieuwegen found herself attached to a pole.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, the girl set out to kiss a lamppost in order to win a bet. Not betting on the frozen lamppost to kiss back, she found herself firmly attached by the tongue. Luckily, the police appear to have been trained in this type of incident and she was freed with the help of some warm water poured onto the lamppost. Her bloody tongue was treated on the spot by ambulance workers.
So remember, keep your tongues away from frozen lampposts. It never ends happily, even if you win the bet.
