Monday Madness: Some People Just Never Learn

Posted in Monday Madness

Prison is not a nice place.  Or so I have been told.  Between the unidentifiable food and the not always so friendly co-inhabitants, you would think that one visit would be enough but for one 28-year old this clearly wasn’t the case.

The man from Etten-Leur was partaking in a complimentary stay at Breda police station for trespassing in his ex-girlfriend’s house.  He was actually also accused of theft of his ex’s dog but he explained that one.  You see, he just “wanted to let the dog out,” well okay then.

However, I digress.  Fast-forward to Sunday morning.  While children were waking up to search for misplaced eggs and consuming enough chocolate to enter a sugar induced coma, our friend from Etten-Leur was being released from his cell.

I like to imagine that he pushed open the door, smelled the fresh morning air tinged with cut grass and blooming flowers, felt the warm sun shining on his face and thought about the day’s potential.  But what did he actually do?  Well, he stole a bike of course and within plain sight of a police officer.

When questioned about his new found mode of transport, he clarified everything…

He had taken the bike because he thought he had found a lost bike.

Right, I’m sure he is was just on his way to turn it in as well.  Luckily, the police officer helped him out by taking both him and the bike back to the station.
