No matter how many years I live in the Netherlands, I don’t think I will ever not giggle on the first Monday of the month at noon. There is something about carrying out your usual Monday tasks to suddenly be interrupted by air raid sirens.
I wrote about my first few experiences of the monthly siren tests back in 2007 when I first moved here. I at least knew that the sirens were going to start belching out their warning screeches but I have always wondered how weird (and perhaps worrying) it is for someone who is only here as a visitor.
I can only imagine how weird (and very worrying) it is for someone who is only here as a visitor on the first Monday of the month if they happen to bump into Invader Stu at the same time. Especially if he is in one of his funny moods!

Me? One of my funny modes? Mahahaha. Oh I still get so much fun out of messing with new expat co-workers.
And by modes I mean moods.
I can imagine! I so wanted the alarms to go off when my friend was here…I think watching her reaction would have been hilarious.
Both work. ;)
